Bath’s Kevin Moseley picked up his second BMGA Tour victory of the season as he won the second-annual Weymouth Open minigolf tournament held at the 18-hole Pirate Adventure Golf course at the Sealife Centre in Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth, Dorset on Sunday.
A field of 22 players competed in the Weymouth Open competition, which was held over two rounds. After 36-holes both defending champion Richard Gottfried and Kevin Moseley were tied for the lead on 87 shots, five clear of Newcastle's John Moore in third place.
The sudden death play-off was won at the fourth extra-hole as Richard’s ball stopped just shy of the hole to take a three, while Kevin was able to hit a two to take the title and be crowned as the 2009 Weymouth Open Champion.
Weymouth’s Oliver Green won the Junior Weymouth Open title for the second and last time, as he steps up to the adult ranks in 2010. Oliver was tied for fourth place overall with top local player David Picksley after both scored 93 (+21). Second in the junior rankings was Birmingham’s Owen Johnson in 14th place overall, with Katie Wall from Weymouth in 3rd spot and 16th place overall.
Oliver’s course record of 43 (+7) was also beaten at the event, with both Luton’s Richard Gottfried and Weymouth’s Ed Evans scoring a 41 (+5) in their second rounds.
