British Minigolf Association
Event
Description
14 year-old Adam Kelly from Cambridge collected his first British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour victory on Saturday afternoon as he beat 21 players to become the new London Open minigolf champion.
The London Open competition was held over two rounds at the 18-hole Adventure Golf course at Lammas Park in Staines, and saw Adam Kelly score a first round of 39 (+3) followed by a 34 (-2) (equalling the course record set by Alan Norman in the first round) to take the 2009 London Open title with a score of 73 (+1), five shots clear of the players in second place.
The battle for second place came down to a four-player play-off which was won by Luton’s Richard Gottfried at the third extra hole. The 2006 London Open winner David Corkett finished in third place following the play-off which also included his London Minigolf Club team mates Jon Angel and Alan Norman.
A play-off also decided the winner of the Aces prize for most holes-in-one, with Newcastle’s John Moore beating Cwmbran’s Cindy Kukielka and London’s Gareth Holmes.
