Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club all set for Open Tournament PDF Print E-mail

The British Minigolf Association will be back in Hastings on Saturday 28th March 2009 as 30 of Great Britain’s top Minigolfers play 72 holes on the three seafront courses and at Planet Hastings (White Rock Gardens) in the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open.

The Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open tournament is now in its ninth year and is one of the most popular events on the British Minigolf Association Tour, with the winner receiving a highly treasured Claret Jug and Free Crazy Golf all year at Planet Hastings. There are also a wide range of prizes up for grabs for players throughout the field, including cash prizes for achievements such as breaking course records. The price to play is £11.99 for four rounds and the tee-off time will be 10.45am.

Reigning Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open Champion Trevor Exall of Tunbridge Wells said “I do hope to be able to retain my title as I think it is a great competition. I was pleasantly surprised to win it last year as Chris Harding and my brother Andy were slogging it out at the top and Tim Davies made a late charge, so I just carried on playing my game not worrying about the scores and hoping to finish as high as possible and I think that mindset helped me. This year there are also some new players who will give us all a run for our money and it promises to be a good day and a tough, but fun, competition.”

Three-time PHCGC Open Champion, British Number One, World Crazy Golf Champion and Hastings resident Tim ‘Ace Man’ Davies is keen to regain the title he lost to Tunbridge Wells’ Trevor Exall in 2008. Tim is also keen to see new and local players take to the greens to challenge him and other regular BMGA players.

There will be a practice session on Friday 27th March and during the weekend the courses will also be hosting matchplay matches as part of the BMGA British Matchplay Championship that is taking place throughout the 2009 season.

Hastings will be hosting seven tournaments on the BMGA Tour this year, they are:
28th March – Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club Open
4th & 5th July – BMGA British Championships
4th & 5th July – BMGA British Junior Championship
