Ruth Burke wins again in Wales PDF Print E-mail
The fourth Welsh Open, held once again at the fabulous Treetops Course in Cardiff, provided a spectacular finish in the final round.

Going into the final round, Andy Exall held a one shot lead over Andy Wilde and Ruth Burke with Seve Kukielka a further shot behind.

By the time hole 15 had been completed, the game had been swung around completely with Andy Wilde holding a three shot lead ahead of Andy Exall and Ruth Burke.
However on the 17th, Ruth showed the right "plateautude" as she made her 16th two of the round.
Andy Wilde could only make a three giving him a two shot lead going into the final hole.

Ruth managed to roll in her first ace of the round on the 18th.
Andy Exall, in need of an ace for a share of third, saw his ball stop agonisingly short of the hole.
Andy Wilde needed an ace or two to win or a three to tie. Unfortunately he had a hole to forgot and ended up with a four having to settle for third place in the process.

The tournament wasn't over though as Seve Kukielka had hit a final round 35 to tie the lead with Ruth Burke and force a playoff for the title.

Ruth won the playoff with an ace on the third sudden death hole, meaning Seve finished second at the Welsh Open once again.
This was Ruth's second win in a row following victory at the Sussex Wasps Open in Peterborough last month. She will be hoping to continue this run at Dunton Hills in the Club Championships in two weeks time.

The BMGA would like to thank Treetops Adventure Golf for their superb hospitality across the weekend.

It was also fantastic to see Victor Kuzloz playing in the tournament, becoming the first Russian player in a British Tour event. We hopefully will see Victor again at a BMGA event in the future.

Thank you to the Welsh Minigolf Club for all their work with us for the Welsh Open, including Martyn Williams for his Welsh translations. They also put on a fantastic club invitational event on the Saturday.
