MMGC ready for the 2018 Midlands Open PDF Print E-mail

The next event on the BMGA Calendar is the eleventh Midlands Open on Saturday 28th July. The tournament will be held on the new 18 hole course at Four Ashes Golf Centre, Dorridge. This will be the first BMGA supported event to be held on the new course (completed in 2016). The three round strokeplay tournament will start at 4.30pm.

On the next day, Sunday 29th July, the BMGA Matchplay Championship will take place on the old course at Dorridge (formerly 12, now 11 holes).

MMGC Captain Michael Smith: “The MMGC is looking forward to hosting another Midlands Open at Dorridge. Historically, both MMGC and the BMGA have enjoyed a productive relationship with the management at Four Ashes Golf Centre. The old course hosted numerous club tournaments in addition to several BMGA British Doubles Championships and BMGA British Club Championships. As a club, we are thrilled that the management of Four Ashes has decided, for the time being, to keep the old course. Many players have expressed their enthusiasm about returning to the old course for the British Matchplay Championship.

“Nevertheless, MMGC is extremely delighted that the management at Four Ashes are allowing us to host the first BMGA tournament on the new 18 hole course. They are also generously providing £100 towards the prize fund. The course has been extremely popular with the general public and I look forward to hearing what BMGA members think of the course. From my perspective, the course is visually stunning and offers a tough yet extremely fair test of minigolf. Aces will be few and far between and rebounds are rare. However, players who enjoy direct putting and have good control of pace will excel. The course can be played with just one or two balls, therefore players should be able to learn the course quickly. On behalf of my colleagues on the MMGC Management Committee, I look forward to welcoming new players and BMGA regulars alike to Dorridge on Saturday 28th July for what I hope will be a fantastic early evening of minigolf.”

The entry fee is £15. Players can enter the event by sending the full name and email address of the entrant to Ruth (MMGC Secretary) at: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
