Great Britain ready for the 2018 WAGM PDF Print E-mail

Two days and counting to the 2018 WORLD ADVENTURE GOLF MASTERS - Here in the Czech Republic the 2018 World Adventure Golf Masters will be
hosted by the World Minigolf Sport Federation and ADVENTURE GOLF HORNÍ BEZDĚKOV a TYROLSKÁ HOSPŮDKA.

The competition will take place on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th June, there will be six strokeplay rounds for all players with an additional round for the
top six teams and then a further round for the top 18 players individually. More details about the WAGM can be found here, with live scoring available.

Missing several experienced players, Great Britain will have two relatively inexperienced teams entered into the competition, and whilst expectations may not be too high, we are confident that both teams will represent the BMGA admirably and in the right spirit.

The squad for the event is made up of the following 9 players, who have a wealth of domestic experience (six of the squad will be making only their 2nd overseas wagm trip, with Ed making his debut), but will give it their all competing against the elite of international Minigolf, including reigning champions Germany, Sweden, Finland, the USA and our hosts the Czech Republic. · Steve Lovell (Captain) · Will Donnelly (coach) · Adrian Amey · Andy Wilde · Dave Donnelly · Edward Pope · Mark Wood · Martin Greenhead · Matt Dodd In addition, BMGA member Paul Preston will accompany the squad.

Each player has been speaking to the BMGA prior to the competition and has given their thoughts ahead of what promises to be an exciting competition
:

Steve Lovell- “This is undoubtedly one of the proudest moments of my life. If you had told me that I would be captain of my country having just taken up the sport five years ago, I would have laughed but here we are. It is an honour which I graciously accept.
We go to the Czech Republic with a good chance of achieving something but my main goal is to make sure we enjoy the experience. Every single one of us. Having played in the Czech Masters last year, I know our hosts will do a fantastic job in making us feel welcome. I picked up so much from twelve months ago and I hope that time spent then will go towards helping my teammates to be the best they can be. Good luck to everyone taking part but especially to Great Britain, with special thanks to Urban Crazy for kitting us out in the red and white.”

Ed Pope- “I couldn’t be any prouder at being able to represent Great Britain at the 2018 World Adventure Golf Masters. As the only rookie, the team have made me feel so welcome and I really can’t wait to experience it with all of my teammates. Let’s go Team GB!”

Matt Dodd- “I’m excited to be representing Great Britain once again and hopefully experiencing a full tournament after the rain last year! We have a strong team and great teammates who I am looking forward to playing alongside. Let’s hope that we do our country proud.”

Mark Wood- “It’s an honour to represent Great Britain at this fantastic event. I’m also proud that the opportunity to play internationally has been given to more members in the last few years. A special thanks goes to Urban Crazy for their continued support of the BMGA.”

Martin Greenhead- “It is once again an honour to represent Great Britain, having been in every WAGM since 2013. It’s always a fantastic experience to play against the best players in the world, it is a real challenges but an unforgettable opportunity. I can’t wait to play on Daniel’s course, I’ve heard so much about it.
We have an experienced team and I’m looking forward to being with them on and off the course. As ever, the team appreciate the messages sent from home so I hope we’ll gets lots of support on Facebook.”

Dave Donnelly- “I am really looking forward to my third foray playing for Great Britain- two years ago at the Senior European Championships in Lahti, Finland was a real eye-opener and a tremendous experience as it gave me my first chance to play on the international stage whilst last year in Zaton, Croatia was equally enjoyable. The camaraderie in our group was excellent on both occasions in all aspects, both on and off the course which I am sure will continue this time around as well. The course itself looks really inviting and I am now counting the days down in anticipation. Let the games begin!”

Adrian Amey- “I am so excited the WAGM is coming round. Inspired by Great Britain and encompassing the world’s continent of minigolfers, I personally think the WAGM is the best competition in the universe. Friends are made friends and continents crossed in the honour estonof representing my country. I love the team element and camaraderie it involves. Bring it on! VTGB”

Paul Preston- “It is an honour to represent the Great Britain team at the 2018 WAGM and I really appreciate the support given to us by Urban Crazy once again.”

Will Donnelly- “I am really excited for the 2018 WAGM. This will be the seventh consecutive year in which I have represented my country and the first that I have been involved in coaching, whilst still playing, the National Team. I am sure that we will have a superb team spirit and all help our fellow teammates out in what will be a superb trip!”
