The 2018 World Crazy Golf Championships took place over the weekend of 9th and 10th June, attracting players from across the UK and Europe, all competing for the biggest prize fund ever in the competitions history. As well as the £1,000 for the overall winner and an additional £2,000 prize fund for the top players overall, the 2018 event also had a purse of £1,500 exclusively for the novice players, with the best placed novice picking up £500 at the event.

After a thrilling final round, Marc Chapman from the Canterbury, Kent won his first World Championship by one shot ahead of the chasing pack. He picked up the trophy and £1000. He won with a seven round score 226 (-26).

The Gommery is presented annually at the World Crazy Golf Championships to the player with the highest number of aces outside of the top 18. Thank you to Dave and Liz Gomm for sponsoring this award once again.

Speaking after his victory, Marc said "It has always been an ambition to become a World Champion and the World Crazies here in Hastings is the reason I picked up a putter in the first place. I am really chuffed and wowed by all the emotions. I am really pleased with how I played over the entire weekend and the final round, with the crazy crazy rules, always leaves a memorable story. Luckily for me that story is coming out on top. Adam and Michael both really pushed me all the way! A big thank you, as always, to the organisers, the course, the staff that have maintained the course so well and to my fellow players. The camaraderie has been fantastic and it has been a truly amazing atmosphere all weekend.

Russell Smith became the World Crazy Golf Novice Champion with a four-round score of 134 (-10). He won £500 along with the Novice title. Chris Horn came second, ten shots behind along with winning the £300 prize with a score of 144 (0). Mark Berezicki came third, three shots further back along with winning the £200 prize with a score of 147 (+3). Charlie Dart came fourth winning the £150 prize with a score of 149 (+5) after beating James Hollingrake, who came fifth claiming £125, at the seventh sudden death hole. Shelley Cooper came sixth winning the £100 prize with a score of 151 (+7) after winning a three way play off at the first sudden death hole. Phil Chenery came seventh winning the £75 prize and Dee Relf came eight and won £50.
