Two New Faces on the BMGA Executive Committee PDF Print E-mail
Following the resignation of Paul Preston and Ruth Burke from the BMGA Executive Committee there has been a by-election for their two positions. The BMGA would like to place on record our thanks to both Paul and Ruth for their hard work and important contributions during their time on the EC and we look forward to seeing both soon on the BMGA Tour.

There were two nominations received from John McIver and Steve Lovell with both being duly elected as new BMGA Executive Committee members until the 2020 AGM.
John is the captain of the longest running BMGA club, Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club and Steve Lovell is also the captain and founder of the Sussex WASPS Minigolf Club.

Following their successful elections:

John McIver said "After a gap of nearly a decade I am back on the EC. As captain on the British team that went to Tampere in 2008 I learnt a lot about leadership, individual, and collective responsibility and team working, all the way up until the team fired me!"

Steve Lovell said "I am delighted to be joining the Executive Committee and to be finally given the chance to be a positive influence on the British Minigolf Association. Since my last attempt at getting voted in failed back in 2016, I have worked very hard on a number of minigolf related items, including the most complete database of historical results available, articles for the media arm of the World Minigolf Sport Federation and becoming the face of the 2018 BMGA Shield.
What I hope to bring to the role is to make sure that as many people as possible enjoy the minigolf experience and share in the pleasure it has brought to me since 2013. I hope that you view me as a fair and sporting man, someone that you can feel you can talk to in total confidence and who has an unrivalled passion for minigolf. I realise that it will be challenging at times but we will work through our differences in a cordial and respectful manner. If you decide that you cannot be cordial and respectful with me, like some members have chosen to, I will not work with or for you. If you want me to work and work hard for you, I will give my all to make each day better and for you to go away from each event craving the next event."

BMGA Chairman Scott Lancley said "It is a pleasure to be able to welcome John (Ted) McIver and Steve Lovell to the BMGA EC. I've known Ted for a very long time, in fact he was part of my very first tournament group back in 2007. As captain of the longest running minigolf club (PHCGC), Ted will bring a vast catalogue of waffling speeches (only kidding!) and experience. In Steve Lovell (Sussex WASPS Captain) we have someone that brings a brimful of enthusiasm not just for the sport, but he also strives in wanting more people to have a positive experience at all our tournaments. I'm sure the rest of the membership will join me in thanking them for volunteering and supporting the association over the course of the next two years."

Steve Lovell and John McIver will assume their duties with immediate effect meaning that we now have the seven man BMGA EC consisting of five different clubs who will be working together for the good of the BMGA and all of our members with a welcoming atmosphere. We are really pleased to see our members dedicating their time to the association and look forward to seeing them all this coming weekend at the 2018 British Championships.
