Michael Smith wins again in Nottingham PDF Print E-mail
Congratulations to Michael Smith for winning the 2018 English Open at The Lost City Adventure Golf in Nottingham on Sunday 25th March.

Michael won with a total score of 89 (-19) in the three round tournament which included equalling the course record with a score of 26 in the opening round. He picked up the golf medal, trophy and £40 in prizes.
Ed Pope finished second on the same score after losing in a playoff at the first sudden death hole picking up the silver medal and £25.

Steve Lovell
finished third on a total score of 95, taking bronze and £15, after beating Ruth Burke at the second sudden death hole, who finished fourth.

The top three- Steve Lovell (left), Michael Smith (centre) and Ed Pope (right).

Speaking following his victory, Michael said "I'm pleased to have won the English Open at Nottingham and especially delighted to have equalled the Rocky Bullin's course record in the first round. The third round was tough, as after starts, both Ed and myself did not play anywhere near our best until the final few holes. Ed hit a sensational putt to ace the 18th and I genuinely think he can count himself unfortunate not to have won his first BMGA title. However, after his performance on Sunday and in last year's English Open, he shouldn't have too long. Overall, I thought it was a very promising start to the season in terms of tournaments run by the new BMGA Executive Committee, and I'm grateful to Ruth, Scott, Paul and Steve Sturdy for their hard work in running the tournament. I'd also like to thank the team at Lost City Adventure Golf for hosting the tournament for a fourth time in five years. Their hospitality was once again excellent."

Andy Wilde (£15) won the Category 2 competition with Matt Dodd (£10) second and Chris Smith (£5) third.

Geoff Farmer (£15) won the Category 3/4 competition with Brenda Smith (£10) second and Henri Myers (£5) third.
