The 2017 BMGA season saw another high quality season with multiple new winners on the BMGA Tour.

 

The inaugural Irish Open took place in Dublin over the weekend of the 18th and 19th February. Adam Kelly took the title with a four shot victory over Sean Homer. Karl Lakos came third.
Pauli Kuikka set the new MOS world record with a round of 23!

The 2017 English Open took place on Sunday 5th March in Nottingham and was won by Sean Homer after beating Steve Lovell in a play off at the fifth sudden death hole. Ed Pope put in an impressive performance to finish in third!

A week later Steve Lovell won his first singles event on the BMGA Tour in the 2017 Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Open, Sean Homer taking the runners up position, with a four way tie for third between Paul Johnson, Paul Preston, Ruth Burke and Nuno Cunha.

The 2017 British Masters took place at SplashPoint Minigolf in Worthing for a sixth consecutive season on the traditional second Sunday in April. Nuno Cunha took his second tweed jacket with Will Donnelly finishing second and Adam Kelly in third.

Midlands Minigolf Club won the 2017 Club Championships, becoming Club Champions for a third time, at Wroxham Barns on Sunday 23rd April. Cambrdgeshire and Essex Minigolf Club came second and Kent Minigolf Club were third.

The 2017 British Championships took place in its traditional May slot, this time at Strokes Adventure Golf in Margate, and Adam Kelly retained his title, becoming a three-time British Champion in the process. Andy Exall finished in second and Nuno Cunha third.
Will Donnelly retained his BMGA Junior title, becoming a three time champion, with Owen Johsnon third and Chloe Allart-Bennett in third.
Ruth Burke won the Women’s title with Marion Homer in second and Marion Hartley third.
Adam Kelly won the Men’s title with Nuno Cunha second and James Rutherford third.
Andy Exall won the Seniors title with Sean Homer second and Mark Wood third.

The 2017 World Crazy Golf Championships took place over the weekend of the 10th and 11th of June at its traditional venue of Hastings Crazy Golf course. Olivia Prokopova won the tournament, for the second time in her career, with Steve Lovell finishing second and Will Donnelly third place overall.
Jimmy Exall won the Novice Championship with David Taylor second and Alex Hyman third.

The British Open weekend once again proved to be a memorable weekend, being played on the Hastings Pirate course for a second successive season in early July.
Sean Homer won the Players Championship for the first time and Jan Hedstrom won the International Players Championship.

Adam Kelly won the 2017 British Open with Sean Homer second with Will Donnelly in third.
The British Open Overseas competition was won by Karsten Hein with Pauli Kuikka second and Daniel Vlcek finishing third.

The 2017 British Matchplay Championships came to a conclusion over the course of this weekend too. Nuno Cunha took the title with a 2&1 victory over Will Donnelly in a stunning final. Adam Kelly took third after beating Steve Lovell. Nuno Cunha won the traditional Saturday evening 2017 Worthing Minigolf Club Open in July. James Rutherford came second and Steve Lovell third in a really close event!

Mark Wood became a BMGA Tour first time winner with victory at his home course of Dunton Hills in the 2017 Cambridgeshire and Essex Open. He won by one shot, leading throughout, ahead of Steve Lovell and Sean Homer was third.

The team of Will Donnelly and Dave Donnelly (DD27) won the 2017 British Doubles Championships at Dunton Hills becoming the first father and son duo to ever win the title. This was also Dave Donnelly’s first victory on the BMGA Tour. Ruth Burke and Rocky Bullin (The Burke Party) came second after losing by one in the final with Mark Wood and Martin Greenhead (#PrankTeam) finishing third.

The first ever Sussex WASPS Open took place on Sunday 3rd September 2017 at a brand new venue on the BMGA Tour, Dobbies Garden Centre in Peterborough and also saw another first time BMGA Tour winner. Derek Bentall won the four round tournament by seven shots, with Steve Lovell in second and Jon Angel in third.

There were nine Great Britain representatives at the 2017 World Adventure Golf Masters in Zaton, Croatia including two Great Britain teams.

Will Donnelly represented Great Britain at the 2017 World Minigolf Championships, also in Zaton, Croatia. Marion Homer became the new WMF Media Manager during September and covered both international events!

Jens Bergstrom won the 2017 Welsh Open in Cardiff by one shot. Steve Lovell came second, and Sean Homer was third.

The 2017 Midlands Open took place at Nottingham for the first time in 2017. Rocky Bullin won the 2017 Midlands Open with a stunning performance, giving him his first victory on the BMGA Tour for many years! Michael Smith finished second and Andy Wilde finished third.

Adam Kelly won the Kent Open for the first time at the event’s home in Sidcup, where it was held for an eighth consecutive season. Three time champion Sean Homer finished second and Steve Lovell finished in third overall.

The final event of the 2017 BMGA season was the traditional season finale of the Star City Open. Michael Smith blew the field away to win by ten shots. Chris Wood came second beating Chris Smith in a playoff.

Ed Pope won the 2017 BMGA Shield beating off competition from eighty other players. Paul Johnson took the Category 2 title and both players will be presented with their trophies at the 2018 English Open in Nottingham.
