After a full 2016 season, and with the Winter break just starting, it’s time to look ahead to the 2017 calendar which has some great events lined up both at home and overseas.

Before the first BMGA event of the tour. the Irish Open takes place at the Rainforest Adventure Golf Course in Dublin.  Players from the BMGA are welcome and will join an international field contesting the inaugural Irish Open, the first event under the newly formed Irish Minigolf Association (full details of the event can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=773:dublin-to-host-its-first-irish-open-as-a-joint-bmga-and-wmf-supported-event&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=105&Itemid=60).

The BMGA season once again tees off with the English Open at the indoor Lost City Adventure Golf Course in Nottingham on Sunday 5th March. Following the successes of the past seasons, all of our indoor events will see an exclusive practice session on the Saturday morning of the competition weekend. The BMGA AGM will take place on Saturday 4th March – more details to follow in the new year.

The Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Open is the first club open of the year and our first event of 2017 to take place outside. The festivities will commence on Sunday 12th March across the three courses at Hastings Adventure Golf and as always offering an eclectic array of prizes for the unique event.

As is traditional, The British Masters will take place on the same weekend as the Masters in Augusta – this year on Sunday 9th April and for the sixth time in a row it will be hosted by our friends at the Splash Point Minigolf Course in Worthing.

The British Club Championships will take place on Sunday 23rd April at Wroxham Barns in Norfolk, the location of the 2016 British Championships, making its debut as the location for the Club Championship and is sure to throw up some epic battles.

The first Major of the season sees the tour return to Strokes Adventure Golf Course in Margate to contest the British Championships across the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May.  As always we expect to see the majority of the UK's Top 32 and more making the trip to Margate to contest the title as well as British Woman, Senior and Youth trophies.

The second Major of the season will be the World Crazy Golf Championship on the Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf Course in Hastings, retaining its summer slot on the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th June.  Expect a large field to contest this fantastic event, including the prize pot and trophy for the amateur title just like last year.

Before the summer break the tour continues with the third and final Major of the year, The British Open, returning to Hastings on the Pirates course, across Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th July.  This tournament is always well supported by international players too. As is tradition the weekend will tee off on the Friday with the curtain raiser, the Players Championship. The Open has previously always been held in September but has been moved forward in 2017 due to the WAGM and World Championships in Croatia taking place in September. The slot in the calendar may have changed but expect the usual high quality event when we return to the spiritual home of UK minigolf for the final major of the season.

Full details of the International events for 2017 can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=772:gbr-2017&catid=1:latest-news&Itemid=105

With the summer break behind us the tour makes a welcome return to the Treetop Adventure Golf Course in Cardiff for the 2017 Welsh Open taking place on Sunday 8th October.

The final club Open of the season, the Kent Open, will take place at the Mr Mulligans DIno Adventure Golf course in Sidcup on Sunday 12th November.

The tour once again comes to a close on Sunday 3rd December with the Star City Open on the Lost Trail course in Birmingham.

And finally, running all season long, the British Matchplay Championship will mirror the format of 2015 and 2016 with 32 players taking part in the knockout competition, with the unseeded tournament promising some early shock exits.

And with a few more events still to be confirmed 2017 is shaping up to be another vintage year on the BMGA tour.

Further details on all the events, including entry forms, will appear on the website in the new year.
