All eyes on Birmingham as the BMGA season reaches its finale at Star City on December 6th PDF Print E-mail

The popular Birmingham complex looks forward to hosting the final event of the 2015 BMGA season

The 2015 British Minigolf Association season closes on Sunday 6th December when the Adventure Island Mini Golf course at Star City, Birmingham hosts the BMGA Star City Open. Players from across the UK will be taking to the greens at Star City for three rounds (54-holes) on the challenging Lost Hut Trail 18-hole indoor course. The defending Champion, and reigning UK number 1, Michael Smith will be back to try and make it 4 wins in five starts at the event. The tournament will tee-off at 9.00 am prompt (with the course open from 8am) and the entry fee is £20 for BMGA Tour Pros, £10 for juniors (under 18’s) and £25 for everyone else.

The players at the 2014 event get ready to take on the challenge the course provides.

BMGA tour pros can benefit from a day practice rate of £10 year round at the course for unlimited play across the day. This year sees another important change to the weekend, an initiative that has worked well earlier in the year at the Welsh Open in Cardiff. Players taking part in the Star City Open this year will be able to benefit from an exclusive practice session on the Saturday morning from 8am until 1pm where the course will be closed to the public and only tournament entrants will be playing on the course for those 5 hours. The standard £10 day rate applies, payable to the course on the Saturday morning.

Course owner John Whitehead said ""Moving the Star City Open to being the final event of the year has really given the competition an increased sense of importance and created a huge buzz around both the BMGA Tour and Adventure Island Mini Golf. As always we are excited to welcome the players to what is now a full weekend of practice culminating in the Open itself on Sunday. Let the play commence and see who is crowned the 2015 Star City Open Champion."

Sean Homer, Chairman of the BMGA, said "Star City has traditionally opened the season on the BMGA tour but given the popularity of the course and the hospitality and support we have always received from the John and the team, we felt it was time to give this event an extra spice by having it draw our season to a close. We have always had terrific competitions at Star City and since we moved the event to just the Lost Hut Trail course, it has become an even closer contest. The fact that we are ending the tour at Star City also means that the final positions in the Season Only Rankings will also be decided at the event and this adds another dimension to what will no doubt be a fitting climax to a great 2016 tour."

Updated entrant information can be found at - this will revert to the live results on Sunday morning. The 2015 BMGA Star City Open competition will be the seventh national ranking minigolf tournament the Adventure Island Mini Golf course has hosted. Entries are now being taken for the event (entries close at 1pm on Saturday 5th December) and full details, including the latest list of players taking part can be found on the tournament information page at
