Sean Homer wins his third Kent Open title. as the KMGC celebrate their 10th Open with a clean sweep of the top places.

it was a weekend to remember for the Captain of the Kent Minigolf club at the Lost Island Encounter Adventure Golf course at World of Golf in Sidcup. After winning the Kent Invitational Tournament on Saturday 14th November, Sean Homer, one of the Club founders, then went on to win the historic tenth Kent Open, defeating 34 other players in the Minigolf tournament held over three-rounds on the Sunday, becoming the first three time champion of the longest running continuous club Open in BMGA history.

The tournament was played out over 54-holes on the 18-hole Explorers Adventure Golf Course at World of Golf, Sidcup with all players using the official Kent Minigolf Club (KMGC) Kent Open Minigolf Ball – the  only ball used at the Kent Open since the 2013 event.

Sean won the event with a score of 99 (9 under par) beating team mate Andy Exall by 6 shots with fellow KMGC mate Adam Kelly rounding off the podium places in third place overall.

Speaking after his historic triple victory, Sean said "I was a happy man whatever the result on Sunday. Having a great field of players taking part in our tenth Open and seeing everyone having a great time over the weekend was a real testament to what we have always tried to achieve at the club. Obviously I'm delighted to have won and to be the only triple winner of the coveted Kent Open trophy is a brilliant way to end a special weekend for me and the KMGC."

To commemorate the milestone of the club's tenth Open, all the players on Sunday received a limited edition Kent Open pin badge as a keepsake of the event. There were also a number of other prize winners at the competition. Three players shared the 10th place gold medal - Adrian Amey, Mark Wood and Dave Donnelly. Marion Homer won the Kent Open womens title with team mates Louise Ellis and Kathryn Haynes in second and third place. Will Donnelly retained his Kent Open junior title with Oskar Lewns taking the runner up slot and Ollie Greenhead in third place. Two players won the Most Improved Player honours with Tiger Pragnell and Louise Ellis picking up the gold medals for their performances. The team event was won by the threesome of Andy Exall, Matty Exall and Mark Wood. Three players shared the spot prize for aceing lane 18 - Dave Donnelly, Will Donnelly and Kathryn Haynes and 10 players picked up the 'bags of cash' prize for hole in ones at lane 10 with 9 players achieving a 'Ace Double' (2 out of 3 hole in ones across the same hole). The top player from each of the other clubs (i.e. not the KMGC) picked up a signed framed photo of the Kent Minigolf Club players with Steve Lovell (Sussex Wasps), Chris Smith (Miidlands), Terry Exall (Planet Hastings) and Chris Wood (Cambridgeshire and Essex) being the lucky winners of this unique prize.

The event culminated with the annual presentation of the VTK Shield, voted for by the members of the club, and awarded to the KMGC Member of the Year. Vice Captain of the Club, Scott Lancley proved a popular recipient as he was presented the shield by Sean - a fitting way to end the day.

Reflecting on the event, Sean said “We couldn't have asked for a better day for our tenth Open and it was another brilliant event and a great way to mark such a historic moment for the club. To have the biggest field to date for our Open shows that people enjoy to the way we run the competition and with more new players making their debuts, the future of the KMGC looks very bright. Thanks to all who played and special thanks to Helen and Emily Dodd for their support in running the event. and also to the Kent Open Think Tank of Martin Greenhead, Marion Homer and Scott Lancley for their work behind the scenes in setting up the event. The KMGC would once again like to thank Mark Davies and all the team at World of Golf for their ongoing support of the Kent Minigolf Club and the event and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2016! VTK!"
