2015 British Masters preview: Splash Point in Worthing host the showdown for the BMGA tweed jacket PDF Print E-mail

While the world’s top golfers are battling it out on the fairways and greens of Augusta for the coveted Masters green jacket in April, Britain’s minigolfers will compete in their own British Masters on the south coast.

On the BMGA tour, the Masters tees off a busy couple of months in the calendar with the British Championships and World Adventure Golf Masters also taking place over the coming weeks. A large and competitive field is expected in Worthing with players from across the UK competing over 72 holes (4 rounds) of minigolf on Sunday 12 April, to coincide with the final day of the US Masters in Augusta. The winner will receive a cash prize, the British Masters trophy and the legendary tweed jacket - which unlike its Augusta equivalent is passed on from winner to winner rather than being tailored for the champion each year.

Splash Point Mini Golf opened in 2010 on the seafront at Worthing. The course, which is owned and run by BMGA members Peter Emmerson and Anthony Pope, is playing host to the British Masters for the fourth successive year. Speaking as the course gears up for the tournament Anthony said "
Splash Point Mini Golf are delighted to be hosting the BMGA Masters for the 4th year in a row. We're looking forward to welcoming the best UK players to Worthing once again and we're sure the four rounds will produce a worthy winner of the famous tweed jacket. The course is as unforgiving as ever so whoever is top of the leaderboard come the 18th hole at the end of the tournament would truly have earned their win".

BMGA chairman Sean Homer is looking forward to the tour returning to Worthing, now firmly established on the as the home of the Mini Masters. "The British Masters is always an eagerly anticipated event on the tour and with Splash Point hosting the competition for the fourth year in a row, we should see a feast of minigolf as the top players from across the UK fight it out for the honour to wear the coveted BMGA Masters jacket and be crowned the Masters champion 2015. The course always proves to be a tough challenge and will be one of the hardest events to call in terms of who will win. Whoever wins will be a worthy champion and it promises once again to be a brilliant event."

Full round by round results will be streamed 'live' on the internet from Sunday morning at the following link: http://www.bmga.co.uk/2015BM/result.htm (this link will show the confirmed registered players prior to the event start on the 12th).
The weekend will also feature a Hole in One charity challenge on Sunday afternoon, open to all on the day.

There will be more updates and information being posted on our official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/BMGAMinigolf) and our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/BMGA_minigolf) in the build up to the event.

The BMGA tour features events throughout the year at venues across the UK. In 2015, the tour will visit Birmingham, Worthing, Margate, Bluewater, Hastings, Sidcup as well as a return to Fife for the Scottish Open and also a first on the tour, a trip to Cardiff for the Welsh Open. Following recent successes in European competitions, the BMGA will also be sending a strong British team to the World Championships in Finland in August as well as players competing in the Junior and Senior Championships in the Czech Republic and Sweden respectively.
