A look ahead to the 2015 International season and the Great Britain minigolf squad PDF Print E-mail

The British Minigolf Lions aiming to impress on the World stage in this seasons international competitions.

The Great Britain minigolf team will be looking at building on recent successes with strong performances this year at a number of the World Minigolf Sport Federation competitions. The International season tees off in June with the World Adventure Golf Masters, culminating in the summer with the European Junior Championships in the Czech Republic, the European Seniors Championships in Sweden and the pinnacle of International competitions - the World Championships - taking place in Lahti, Finland.

With such an extensive programme of events taking place, including Great Britains historic first appearance at the Seniors Championships, the BMGA have taken the opportunity to review the International Team set up. The first stage in this process is to appoint a dedicated group of selectors and coaches to support the 2015 season. The group is made up of the BMGA's most experienced and capped Great Britain International players - Keith Kellard, Chris Harding, James Rutherford and Sean Homer - and bring a wealth and depth of experience from several years on the International scene.

All four recognise the need for dedicated coaching and team management support for our players in Europe. As well as being instrumental in the selection process for the International squad for 2015, Keith and Chris will be heading up the coaching support for the World Championships in Finland. Additional much needed support for the Seniors Championship (with Great Britain making our debut at this event in 2015) comes from Mark Wood. Mark represented Great Britain at the 2014 WAGM in Sweden and has already done a lot of work behind the scenes in ensuring the Senior team is a reality for this year.

There will be further and more detailed communications regarding the Great Britain teams in the coming weeks but for now the most important factor in moving forward for the BMGA is to establish which players are available and keen to get involved in this seasons Internationals.

With this in mind, the selectors are keen to hear from all players wishing to get involved in any of this years International events (notably the Youth, Senior - any player 45 or over on Jan 1st 2015 is eligible for the Senior team - and World Championships) - players must be able to committ to the time away (players will be required to attend the pre-event official training days at the venues as well as the competition days) and expenses that these trips incur (flights, accomodation, etc) for the duration of the competitions. If you would like to be considered for the events listed above, or have any questions regarding this seasons competitions, then please contact
This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by March 8th at the latest. The deadlines for registrations and entries for the British International teams will be May 2015 so the sooner people express their interest, the better.

NB: There will be additional communications regarding the World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) once the official event invitation is published by the WMF.
