2015 BMGA Tour Calendar announced PDF Print E-mail

With Christmas and New Year celebrations now behind us, thoughts turn to the season ahead and I am delighted to be able to announce the details of all the Majors for the forthcoming year along with a number of other events that will be taking place throughout year.

The first event of the year takes place on Sunday 1st March as the BRITISH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP returns to the Hastings seafront Pirate Course. 2014's event was unfortunatgely cut short and subsequently abandoned due to the adverse weather encountered by all the teams in November. Full details will be confirmed via the Club Captains over the coming weeks but I can confirm that the event will not carry over any results from 2014, ensuring a brand new competition to decide the 2015 Club Champions (currently held by the Kent Minigolf Club).

In April, the BMGA
BRITISH MASTERS takes place on Sunday 12th over the same weekend as the US Masters in Augusta, and is being held for the fourth time at Splash Point Mini Golf in Worthing. The event will once again take place across 4 rounds of strokeplay, with the winner picking up the title along with the coveted BMGA Masters Jacket. Competition day will also see the first Hole In One Challenge of the season - all other events this season will also host the charity shootouts with full details being announced on the competition days.

The two day BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS will be contested at the Pirate Course in Hastings across the weekend of 16th and 17th May. As well as the overall British Champion being crowned, the event will also see the British Senior, Junior and Womens titles being fought out across the 2 day, nine round event.

The 2014 WORLD ADVENTURE GOLF MASTERS (WAGM) returns to Hastings for the fourth time with the competition taking place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June. All Great Britain player entries for the competition will need to made through the BMGA and we will announce further details over the coming weeks as they are confirmed. .

The weekend of September 19th and 20th sees the BRITISH OPEN taking place at Strokes Adventure Golf in Margate, the course hosting the event for the sixth time and provides a fitting venue for our premier event of the year. As is traditional, the PLAYERS & INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on the Friday afternoon before the Open.

The final Major of the year, the WORLD CRAZY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP at the Seafront Crazy Golf Course in Hastings will be taking place across the weekend of 24th & 25th October. The format will remain the same as for the past 4 years and full details of the entry process will be communicated in the forthcoming weeks.

The KENT OPEN will be taking place at the Lost Island Encounter in Sidcup on Sunday 15th November. Following on from the success of the past 4 years, all players will once again use the official ball of the Kent Open. As this will be the 10th anniversary of the competition, the Kent Minigolf Club are promising some exciting news regarding this landmark event.

The STAR CITY OPEN will once again take place in Birmingham, at a new slot in the calendar, with the course hosting the event on Sunday 6th December, rounding off another terrific season on the BMGA tour.

As well as the WAGM, 2015 also sees the Great Britain Minigolf team taking part in the World Championships in Finland and with a team heading over to Germany for the Senior European Championships along with the Youth European Championshipos taking place in the Czech Republic, the season promises to be another excellent chance for GBR minigolf to once again impress on the World stage. Watch out for some news in the coming weeks regarding the teams and support staff for the year ahead.

Full details and entry forms will be uploaded in the Upcoming Events section of the official BMGA website by the end of January.

If you want to get involved in helping to run events on the tour then please drop me a line - we are always on the look out for people to help with the running of our events and all help, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

And remembers, Tour Card Membership is being offered for a limited time only (until 31st January 2015) of just £20 and entitles players to discounted pre-event practice rates at tournament venues on the calendar (some venues will offer these rates all season). The 2015 season will also see discounted entry for the key events on the calendar for Tour Pros (such as the British Championships, British Open and British Masters). Full details can be found at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=68&Itemid=64

So with a brilliant line-up of events already in place and with our new depth of Clubs in the UK we can expect a few other competitions still to be confirmed in the weeks ahead, I'm sure you will agree that the year ahead looks like another vintage year on the BMGA tour.

Here’s to a great 2015 season!
