Minigolf Tournament double header weekend at the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge, Solihull

The 12-hole Minigolf course at the Four Ashes Golf Centre in Dorridge, Solihull played host to the British Minigolf Association Tour on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 September as 29 players competed for the Midlands Open title and 14 teams battled for the BMGA British Doubles Championship.

Michael Smith, the current UK number 1 player made it a weekend to remember as he won both events at the popular course.

On Saturday, Michael won the four-round competition with a score of 82 (-14), three shots clear of former champion Chris Harding in 2nd place and Chris Smith (Michael's dad) a further 2 shots back in third place.

With the singles title secured, Michael and Chris continued their successful weekend as they teamed together and won the BMGA British Doubles Championships on Sunday, defeating father and son team Adam & Tony Kelly (TEAM ADAM AND THE ANTONY) in the final match of the weekend.

14 pairs competed in the tournament with each of the teams playing in a qualifying strokeplay phase, before moving on to a knockout stage to determine the final rankings.

Next up on the BMGA tour is the second Major of the year, the British Open being held at the Pirate Course in Hastings over the weekend of 20 / 21 September and the traditional warm up event, the Players Championship on Friday 19 September.
