Saturday 5 April saw several members of the Great Britain Minigolf squad travel to the Charnwood Golf Complex in Loughborough for the official opening of the new 9 hole miniature golf course at the venue.

As well as taking part in the opening ceremony with the Deputy Mayor of Charnwood, the team took part in a unique challenge event on the day with the Loughborough Golf Academy Juniors vs Team Great Britain over one round of the 9 hole course.

The Juniors, featuring Great Britain player Chris Harding (former UK number 1 and World Crazy Golf Champion) as an honorary member for the day were narrowly defeated and following the match, Great Britain Team Captain Sean Homer had this to say "The standard of play by the juniors today was great to see and it was clear, judging by the cheers and high fives going on across the course, that everyone present really enjoyed the experience. There was some real talent on display in the Academy players and who knows, perhaps in a few years time, we may see some of them representing Great Britain alongside the current squad!".

Radio Leicester achieved perhaps a world first by featuring minigolf live on the radio as their roving reporter, Julie Mayer, interviewed Sean, along with UK number one Michael Smith and one of the BMGA's rising talents and member of the British Junior team Will Donnelly as part of the Saturday morning Tony and Julie show. The piece finished with Julie and Sean going head to head in a hole in one challenge at the first hole. The full interview can be found at from 67 minutes in (the clip will be online until Saturday 12 April.

Next up for the Great Britain squad sees Sean lead two teams over to Gothenburg in Sweden for the World Adventure Golf Masters event, taking place across the weekend of the 17 and 18 May. After three years of picking up the Team Silver medal, the squad are in confident mood to go one better and bring the Gold medal back to the UK in just over 6 weeks time.

The BMGA tour resumes after a short winter break with the British Masters event, taking place on Sunday 13 April in Worthing and full details of which can be found at
