2014 BMGA Tour Calendar confirmed PDF Print E-mail

With the 2014 season already underway following the STAR CITY OPEN on Sunday 26 January at the indoor Star City Adventure Island Golf complex in Birmingham I am delighted to announce the details of all the Majors for the forthcoming year along with a number of other events that will be taking place throughout year.

The first outdoor event of the year takes place on Sunday 13 April as the BMGA BRITISH MASTERS takes place over the same weekend as the US Masters in Augusta, and is being held for the third time at Splash Point Mini Golf in Worthing. The event will once again take place across 4 rounds of strokeplay, with the winner picking up the title along with the coveted BMGA Masters Jacket. Competition day will also see the first Hole In One Challenge of the season - all other events this season will also host the charity shootouts with full details being announced on the competition days.

The two day BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIPS will be contested for the first time at Strokes Adventure Golf Course in Margate (the course having previously hosted the British Open and British Masters over the past seasons) across the weekend of 10th and 11th May. As well as the overall British Champion being crowned, the event will also see the British Senior, Junior and Womens titles being fought out across the 2 day, seven round event.

The 2014 WORLD ADVENTURE GOLF MASTERS (WAGM) is taking place in Sweden for the first time (having been held within the UK for the first 3 years), with Gullbergsbro course hosting the competition on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May. All Great Britain player entries for the competition will need to made through the BMGA and we will announce further details over the coming weeks as they are confirmed. .

Early June sees the NATIONS CUP taking place in Neutraubling, Germany across the 7th and 8th June.

In July the tour will be returning to the Bluewater Park Pirate Cove Course for the BRITISH MATCHPLAY CHAMPIONSHIP taking place on Sunday 6th July. The course hosted the event in 2010 and entries will again be limited to 32 players in what promises to be another nail biting Matchplay event. The BMGA will be supporting an evening event at the course in June prior to the main matchplay event with teams from the retailers at Bluewater taking on each other for the Bluewater Challenge Cup.

Over the summer, two international events are taking place. Early August sees the WORLD YOUTH MINIGOLF CHAMPIONSHIP taking place in Lahti, Finland from August 6th to 9th with the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS taking place in Neutraubling, Germany from the 20th to 23rd

The weekend of September 20th and 21st sees the BRITISH OPEN taking place at the Pirate Course in Hastings, the course hosting the event for the first time. The course has previously hosted the WAGM in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and provides a fitting venue for our premier event of the year. As is traditional, the PLAYERS & INTERNATIONAL PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP will take place on the Friday afternoon before the Open.

The final Major of the year, the WORLD CRAZY GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP at the Seafront Crazy Golf Course in Hastings will be taking place across the weekend of 25th & 26th October. The format will remain the same as for the past 3 years and full details of the entry process will be communicated in the forthcoming weeks.

The traditional strokeplay season closing event, the KENT OPEN will be taking place at the Lost Island Encounter in Sidcup on Sunday 9th November. Following on from the success of the past 3 years, all players will once again use the official ball of the Kent Open.

The BRITISH CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP will again be taking place at the Basingstoke Golf Centre, hosting the event for the 3rd year in a row on Sunday 23rd November, rounding off another terrific season on the BMGA tour.

Full details and entry forms will be uploaded in the Upcoming Events section of the official BMGA website shortly.

If you want to get involved in helping to run events on the tour then please drop me a line - we are always on the look out for people to help with the running of our events and all help, no matter how big or small, is greatly appreciated.

So with a brilliant line-up of events already in place and a few other competitions still to be confirmed, I'm sure you will agree that the year ahead looks like another vintage year on the BMGA tour.

Here’s to a great 2014 season!
