After months of waiting, it is now less than a week to go before the World Crazy Golf Championship tees off on Saturday 27th October on the Arnold Palmer Crazy Golf Course at Hastings seafront. This pack contains the key information that you will need to make this weekend's competition a tournament to remember for all the players!!!

If you have any questions regarding the Competition (or the info below) please do not hesitate to contact me, either via e-mail or I will be at the course on Tuesday and Friday this week and am more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

The prize fund up for grabs over the weekend is as follows;

  • 1st place: £1000 and World Crazy Golf Championship trophy
  • 2nd place: £750
  • 3rd place: £500
  • 4th place: £300
  • 5th place: £200
  • 6th place: £150

In addition to the prize money above there will be 2 extra cash prizes this year:

  • Top Non BMGA Tour Pro: £50
  • Aces Champion: £50 (player with the most hole in one’s outside of the top 18 finishers):

Play will tee off on Saturday 27th October at 9.30am (a rolling start with groups of three players, all starting at hole 1) with all players playing 4 rounds of 18 holes on the course. Michael Smith, the reigning World Crazy Golf Champion will have the honour of leading out the field as the first player to tee-off in this years event.

The estimated finish time for the final groups 4th round on Saturday is 4.30pm.

Sunday will consist of 2 further rounds for all players, with play scheduled to start at 10.00am (in reverse leader board order – i.e. the players at the foot of the leaderboard teeing off first and the top of the leaderboard going out in the last groups for round 5). After 6 rounds, the top 18 players qualify for the final round (featuring the legendary Crazy Crazy Rules with all balls in play in each group!) to decide the winner.

The estimated finish time (including trophy presentations) on Sunday is 4pm.

Following the prize giving ceremony, all prize winners will have their photos taken by the media and the BMGA.
Throughout the weekend there will be video camera crews operating on the course during play from Trans World Sport and Surridge Media, keen to capture all of the excitement and drama of the event for posterity!

To enable everyone to stay up to date with the competition as it progresses throughout the weekend, live round by round results will be streamed on the internet from Saturday morning once the event has started at the following link:

As mentioned earlier, the tournament is being run with a rolling start – led out on round 1 by the defending champion, Michael Smith. This will enable players to watch other players throughout the day (there will always be people out on the course!) and offers a unique insight into the challenges that the course provides. Players remain in their groups throughout the 4 rounds on Saturday (alternating the playing order) and the tee off times for round 1 are listed below, along with the groups for the day*:

*The groups are subject to change to accommodate any last minute entries but if there are changes in the group line up, the Day 1 tee-off times for players will not change significantly.

Players must ensure that they report to the Officials Hut at the course no later than 15 minutes before their scheduled tee-off time. Each subsequent round will tee off 90 minutes after the start of your previous round (please note these timings are approx). Marion Homer (BMGA Tournament Director) is the on-site tournament organiser for the weekend.

The BMGA tournament rules for the World Crazy Golf Championships can be found at the following link: http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=351:bmga-event-rules-summary&catid=46:rules&Itemid=74. Please note that player 1 in each of the groups above is an experienced BMGA / International player and they will be happy to assist with any questions you may have during each round.

To ensure the event has a level playing field for all players, in a throw back to the early days of the competition, this year all players will be playing with the new style course balls, picked out at random by each player at the event. The balls are available in a range of colours to suit all tastes!!
