30 British Minigolf Association Tour Pro’s and ‘Wildcard’ players compete in tournament on Selfridges Rooftop Crazy Golf Course in London

BMGA British Number One Michael Smith won the first-ever Crazy Golf Pro Championship on the rooftop Crazy Golf course at Selfridges in London on Saturday 7th July. The competition was hosted by the course designers, food architects Bompas & Parr and Minigolf company UrbanCrazy. 30 players competed in the two-round 18-hole competition and Oxford’s Michael Smith was victorious following a sudden-death play-off after he, Nick Sandqvist and Alan Norman had tied for first place having all scored a total of 28(-8) in regulation play.

Michael Smith scored rounds of 15 and 13 for his 28, London’s Nick Sandqvist scored two rounds of 14 and London’s Alan Norman had scored a course record breaking round of 12, followed by a 16 for his 28. In the play-off Sandqvist and Smith both scored holes-in-one at the third extra-hole, while Norman missed out on an ace with his first shot to be eliminated and finish in third place overall. On the fourth extra-hole Smith scored a hole-in-one on the Tower Bridge hole while Sandqvist could only manage a two.

The Crazy Golf Pro Championship novice champion was Richard Linden who finished in tied 7th place overall with a score of 35(-1). Runner-up was Danny Angel in tied 10th place scoring 36(par). Third-place novice was William Skeggs with a score of 37(+1) and tied 14th place overall.
