As previously communicated the 2012 World Adventure Golf Masters (WAGM) is taking place in the UK for the second year running, with the Pirate Course at the Hastings seafront once again hosting the competition on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th May. Following discussions between the WMF and myself regarding the entry criteria for this years WAGM I am pleased to announce that there are no restrictions regarding entries for the 2012 competition and that entries are now open to all players (not just restricted to National team players).

Entry to the event is £50 which includes free-practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, the official opening and closing ceremonies at the White Rock Hotel on Thursday and Saturday evenings along with a guaranteed minimum of 6 competition rounds across the two tournament days. The format will mirror that of the 2011 event and carries an estimated prize fund in excess of £1000. The competition will have a team event (all teams will consist of 4 players) running in tandem with the individual event. All players play four individual rounds on Friday and a further two on Saturday. There is then a 7th round for the top 6 teams to decide the team title and then a final 8th round for the top 18 individual players after 6 rounds of strokeplay.

Last years event saw Germany take both the individual and team titles and they are coming back again this year to defend the titles. We are keen to see a strong turnout for Great Britain in both the individual and team events in 2012 to take on all comers (players can highlight on their entry form if they would like to also be part of the team competition – GBR teams of four will be selected from this pool of players once initial entries have been received).

Further details of the event along with a brilliant offer on accommodation at the White Rock Hotel can be found in the official WMF invite at

A UK Television Company, Love Productions, the makers of BBC2’s The Great British Bake Off, have contacted the BMGA as they are currently looking for non-professional sewing enthusiasts to take part in a brand new TV series! The programme will be a celebration of sewing and will see men and women who love sewing turn their hand to a variety of challenges, from clothing making to interior projects. The sewing tasks will be interspersed with short films exploring the history of sewing in Britain. The producers have had plenty of women come forward but are now hoping to get the word out to the men. The series is currently due to be filmed in summer and they will be contacting shortlisted applicants from now to mid-May, and would love to hear from interested individuals as soon as possible. If you are interested in taking part then contact Eleanor Scott via This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or check out their website for more details.

If you have any questions regarding any of the information in this newsletter (apart from the sewing part!) then please do not hesitate to contact me and I look forward to hopefully seeing you all on a course this year.

Kind regards,

Sean Homer - BMGA Chairman.
