Minigolf Announcement - Windmills to be Banned on UK Crazy Golf Courses PDF Print E-mail

New Minigolf Regulations Mean Windmills are to be bricked up on Miniature Golf courses in the UK

A new European Health & Safety Directive means that Crazy Golf courses will no longer be permitted to have functioning Windmills on them. The obstacles must be removed or adapted on the UK’s 600+ minigolf courses by midday on Sunday 1st April 2012.

Alvin Oloff of the Applied Field Decisions (AFD) unit of the Centre for Miniature Golf Studies in Europe said “After much research we have found that the best way to play a Windmill obstacle on Crazy Golf courses is to play around the base of the Windmill and not through the gap between the sail and the green. The decision to enforce the blocking of holes under minigolf Windmills has not been taken lightly.”

A spokesman for the British Minigolf Association said “It’s a real shame that all of the Windmill obstacles on minigolf courses up and down the country will have to be made unplayable. But it’ll be a boon to the British Brick Industry with more than 600 Miniature Golf courses and obstacles to block up. The BMGA will be looking to contest this absurd decision ahead of the competitions already lined-up this season.”

Strangely Water Wheels, Lighthouses and Clowns Mouth obstacles are not affected by the new rulings.
