Kent’s Sean Homer wins the BMGA’s second annual Scottish Open on first visit to Dunfermline

Sean Homer - 2011 Scottish Open Champion

Greenhithe’s Sean Homer became the new BMGA Scottish Minigolf Open Champion as he beat 11 competitors to take the title at the Adventure Golf Island course at Fife Leisure Park, Dunfermline on Sunday 1st May.

Sean Homer won the event with his four-round score of 128 (-16), following rounds of 32, 28, 34 and 34. Homer, Captain of the Kent Minigolf Club, also set the new BMGA Course Record on the Treasure Island course with a score of 28(-8) in his second round.

Runner-up in the 72-hole, 12-player field was Oxford’s Michael Smith. Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club member John McIver was third. McIver set the BMGA Course Record of 30(-6) on the Pirate’s Cove course.

Brechin’s Freddie Blackburn-Shaw was in fifth place, with David Leitch winning the top novice prize. Christopher Prosser was the runner-up novice, and John Jackson was third.

The tournament Aces Champion was Marion Homer from Greenhithe, who scored 15 holes-in-one across the four rounds.

2011 Scottish Open field

The Pirate-themed courses – Treasure Island and Pirate's Cove – offer players the opportunity to have fun, test their skill and win “Treasure” to exchange for a Free Game! Players must Putt their way amidst waterfalls, fountains, Pirate forts, Palm trees, Tiki Huts and a fully rigged Pirate Ship!

The BMGA Tour consists of Minigolf ranking events that take place at Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses across the UK. Last year there were 22 BMGA Tour competitions and a total of 15 players lifted BMGA Tour titles.
