BMGA British Masters Tournament in Margate, Kent

British Minigolf Association Tour makes its return to Margate with the 2011 BMGA British Masters tournament at Strokes Adventure Golf.

The 2011 British Minigolf Association season continues on Sunday 10th April as the 18-hole Strokes Adventure Golf course in Margate, Kent hosts the BMGA British Masters minigolf competition.

The BMGA British Masters tournament will tee-off at 10am and will see over 30 British Minigolf Association (BMGA) Tour players, along with a number of local players, competing over three rounds (54-holes) on the 18-hole seafront Adventure Golf course. Entry to the event is £20. Further details and an entry form can be found online at http://www.minigolf.org.uk/joomla/index.php?option=com_eventlist&view=details&id=52&Itemid=56

The BMGA Tour consists of Minigolf ranking events that take place at Minigolf, Crazy Golf and Adventure Golf courses across the UK. Last year there were 22 BMGA Tour competitions and a total of 15 players lifted BMGA Tour titles.

Strokes Adventure Golf’s Matt Wood said “We are very pleased to welcome back the BMGA to Strokes Adventure Golf and to be hosting the BMGA British Masters. It’s a big competition and a great way to start the 2011 season for us. The greens are in great condition and fingers crossed we’ll have some good weather for the event. I would like to see some low rounds shot, although I’m pretty sure the course record of 30 will remain intact over the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing some of the best British minigolfers at Strokes and will be interested to see how the likes of British number one Michael Smith tackle our legendary course."

BMGA Chairman Sean Homer said “I am delighted that the BMGA tour is once again returning to Strokes Adventure Golf Course in Margate who are hosting our first outdoor event of the 2011 season, the eagerly awaited BMGA British Masters. This is the first time the event has been held at Strokes. Being one of the finest Adventure Golf courses in the UK I know we are in for a classic event. Andy Exall returns as the reigning champion to do battle with a strong field of players in his bid to retain the title and the marvellous BMGA Masters jacket! Michael Smith will be making his debut at the course for the Masters and having won all three of the BMGA tour events so far this season will be one of the players gunning for the title come the final stages on Sunday afternoon. There is also a great turnout of new players taking to the hallowed greens of Strokes for the first time in their bid to take the novice title and make their mark on the BMGA Tour, and I am looking forward to what will no doubt be one of the closest and hardest contested events in the history of the BMGA British Masters.

The 2011 BMGA British Masters will be the 12th edition of the competition.

Andy Exall Masters champion 2010

Last year’s BMGA British Masters was won by Andy Exall, a member of the Kent Minigolf Club, who won the title in New Malden.

The Strokes Adventure Golf course has previously hosted the BMGA British Open, BMGA Players Championship, Kent Open and Kent Invitational Tournaments a number of times in previous years.
