World of Golf Sidcup calls on locals to enter the British Minigolf Association’s 2010 Kent Open Competition

The British Minigolf Association’s final outdoor event of the 2010 season – the Kent Open – will be held at the recently opened Lost Island Encounter Adventure Golf course at World of Golf, Sidcup, on Sunday November 14th.

Entry is open to anyone to compete in the Kent Open and registration is open until November 12th. The competition tees off at 9am on Sunday November 14th and consists of three rounds: the player with the lowest score at the end will be crowned the 2010 Kent Open Champion. As well as prizes for the top players, there will be prizes for the top juniors, top novices and the Aces Champion title. Entry is £15 for adults and £10 for under-18s.

This year marks the Kent Open competition’s 5th anniversary and will be first time the event has been held at the Lost Island Encounter Adventure Golf course. The 2010 Kent Open will also have a Team event taking place within the main event with all players being eligible for the combined Team prize (teams will be made up at random from seeded pools of players).

Sean Homer, BMGA Chairman, said “We are delighted to be making our first trip to The Lost Island Encounter Adventure Golf Course at World of Golf in Sidcup as part of the 2010 BMGA tour. The venue and location are superb, and with the competition being played out across two top class courses we are guaranteed a terrific event on the 14th. The quality of the field is shaping up nicely with top players from across the country along with hopefully a strong showing of local players. It’s our first time at the course so it will be a real leveller and impossible to call regarding who will triumph. Whatever happens, it is bound to be a great event!”

Martin Keay, World of Golf Sidcup’s general manager said “We’re excited about hosting a BMGA event at Lost Island Encounter. The 36 holes of adventure golf opened last May and have been popular so far. With events like BMGA’s Kent Open we hope more people from the area will discover all the facilities we’ve got at the 30 acre site: as well as adventure golf we offer a driving range, a golf academy with qualified professionals, parties, and more. The beauty of adventure golf is that with luck as much as skill, anyone can play a decent game: it would be wonderful if someone from the local area gave the more seasoned players a run for their money!”
