Chris Harding wins Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships PDF Print E-mail

Chris Harding - World Crazy Golf Champion 2010The 2010 Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships took place at the Hastings Seafront Adventure Golf Complex in Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October.

The overall winner was Birmingham’s Chris Harding, who won the title for the second time, having previously won the title in 2007. Brighton’s Peter Emmerson was runner-up, with Oxford’s Michael Smith in third place. Harding won with a seven round total of 222 (-30), after rounds of 31, 34, 31, 29, 32, 29 and 36 - an average of 31.7 shots per round. Defending champion Keith Kellard finished in 8th place.

Players from all over the world were invited to compete in the Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships which had a prize fund of £3000. 54 competitors played six qualifying rounds (four on Saturday, two on Sunday) on the 18-hole Hastings Crazy Golf course, with the top ranked 18 players making the cut to take part in the final round, played using unique Crazy Crazy Golf Rules. Chris Harding took the World Crazy Golf Championship title, prestigious trophy and £1000 in prize money. Among the nations represented in the event were players from England, Wales, Scotland, Sealand, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Australia.

Other winners at the tournament were England’s Ruth Bullin, who became the Women’s World Crazy Golf Champion, with the Czech Republic’s Olivia Prokopova in second place and Welsh Ladies Number One Cindy Kukielka third. Birmingham’s Owen Johnson won the award for Top Tournament Personality.

The World Crazy Golf Championships have been held every year since 2003. In the ‘Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Rankings 2003-2010’ 260 players are listed, with five-time champion Tim 'Ace Man' Davies ranked at number one, Peter Emmerson number two and John ‘Big Top Ted’ McIver at number three.
