Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships in Hastings, East Sussex 30th & 31st October

This year’s Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships will be held in Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st October. Players were invited to compete in the Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships with a prize fund of £3000 up for grabs. This weekend 54 Competitors will play six qualifying rounds (four on Saturday, two on Sunday) on the 18-hole Seafront Crazy Golf course, with the top ranked 18 players making the cut to take part in the final round, played using unique Crazy Crazy Golf Rules.

The 2009 World Crazy Golf Champion was Keith Kellard from Bishop’s Stortford. Second was Brighton’s Peter Emmerson, with John Mittler from Finland in third place. Kellard won with a seven round total of 247 (-5), after rounds of 34, 33, 40, 36, 36, 35 and 33 - an average of 1.96 shots per hole.

Other winners at the 2009 tournament were London’s Jo Williamson, who became the Women’s World Crazy Golf Champion, with the Czech Republic’s Olivia Prokopova in second and St Leonards-on-Sea’s Ruth Bullin third.

In previous years players have come from as far afield as India, Tibet, the Czech Republic and Finland as well as all the home nations, and famous faces including Colin Jackson and Phil Tufnell have competed. The World Crazy Golf Championships have also featured in a number of media throughout the years including Transworld Sport, Channel 4's series Grudge Match, Sky's European Tour Weekly and a range of newspapers and magazines.

Spectators are welcome to attend the event and all eyes will be on the October weather which can be so fickle. In past years, the players have contended with strong winds and rain, but short of a snow-storm or heavy lightning, the tournament will go ahead.
