British Minigolfers head to the EMF European Minigolf Championships in Predazzo, Italy

British Minigolf Association (BMGA) members Marc Chapman and Alan Norman will be representing Great Britain in the upcoming EMF European Minigolf Championships taking place in Predazzo, Italy on the 25th-28th August. Around 115 players from 14 countries will be competing in the tournament.

Both players will be making their debut appearances for Great Britain team. Chapman and Norman will be coached and assisted at the event by Anna Green. The players will be travelling to Italy later this week to take part in the training sessions beginning on the 20th August.

Most World Minigolfsport Federation (WMF) and European Minigolfsport Federation (EMF) competitions are played on courses that are uncommon in the UK and the European Minigolf Championships will be played on Concrete/Beton and Miniaturegolf/Eternit playing surfaces.

Marc Chapman, a member of the Kent Minigolf Club said "I'm looking forward to my first major international minigolf championships. I've been in good form domestically with consistent results in the big events, but this will be a completely different experience playing against the best players in the world. It will be interesting testing my skills against the top players and seeing where I end up on the world stage. Whatever the result, I acknowledge that this will be an excellent chance to learn lots of new things that will take me to the next level. I would also like to thank our kit sponsors UrbanCrazy for their support with the GB Minigolf Team."

London Minigolf Club member Alan Norman said "I'm very apprehensive yet intrigued at how seriously the foreign players take the sport, it should be a real eye-opener! I'm looking to learn a great deal on minigolf ball selection as well."

Marc Chapman made his minigolf debut in 2009 and is currently ranked 2nd in the Official BMGA Order of Merit and 3rd in the BMGA Season Only Rankings list. Alan Norman debuted in 2007 and is currently ranked 9th in both the Official BMGA Order of Merit and the BMGA Season Only Rankings list

The Great Britain kit for the competition will be supplied by UrbanCrazy Based in London, UrbanCrazy is an innovative and exciting company, designing and building permanent and portable crazy golf, mini golf and adventure golf courses. Jon Angel from UrbanCrazy said “We are very proud once again to be supporting our British players travelling to the European Championships. On behalf of us all at UrbanCrazy, we wish Marc and Alan a successful and enjoyable tournament and look forward to following the results online.”

Sean Homer, BMGA Chairman said “I wish Marc and Alan all the best as they take on the finest minigolfers from across Europe at the European Championships in Predazzo. Marc & Alan will keep us all updated on their progress via the minigolf forum and Twitter and I am sure they will do us proud in Italy. Good luck to both of them.”

Great Britain is currently ranked 24th of 30 countries in the WMF Nations World Rankings. With the 2010 European Championships a total of 28 players will have made 59 appearances representing Great Britain in World and European Championships (both Youth and Adult), Nations Cup competitions, and the Asia Open since 1999.
