On Saturday 15th May the BMGA organised a pre-Scottish Open warm-up doubles event at the Pirate Island Adventure Golf course at Codonas Beach Aberdeen.

Nine teams took part in the Codonas Classic Doubles Competition and the event was won by the team of Oxford’s Michael Smith and Brechin’s Freddie Blackburn-Shaw. Luton’s Richard Gottfried and Cwmbran’s Leo Kukielka were runners-up, with Kent’s Sean Homer and Flintshire’s Peter Jones third.

The format of the event saw the 18 players split into two pools by current BMGA rankings – the nine top players in one hat, everyone else in another. A draw was then made to see who would be paired with each other, before competing in a one-round competition with both players scores combined to make up the team score.

The next full tournament on the BMGA Tour is the BMGA British Championship at Wroxham Barns on the 5th and 6th June 2010.
