Some updated news from the BMGA following last weekend’s National Open in Birmingham. RESULTS ROUND-UP On Sunday 24th January the BMGA National Open saw the new season tee off in fine style. Congratulations to Chris Harding for a terrific victory, securing the title and a new course record in the process (sharing the record with Richard Gottfried who also put in a tremendous final round of 28). Adam Kelly took the junior title, with Matt Caple taking the top novice prize and Peter Emmerson lifting the Aces Prize for the competition. Thanks to everyone who participated, to Marion Homer & Emily Gottfried for running such an efficient show and to John Whitehead and the team at Star City for their wonderful hospitality. NEXT TOURNAMENT On Sunday 28th February we welcome a new course to the BMGA tour calendar with our first tournament at the Jungle Rumble in Bristol for the 2010 BMGA English Open. Entry fee for competition is £15.00 with the competition scheduled to start at 9am prompt. We are particular excited at the prospect of the BMGA making its debut north of the border for the Scottish Open and we have a limited time only special offer running on entries for this event. Entry to the competition is £15 but BMGA members can take advantage of a special early bird discounted entry rate of just £5.00 if entering before 1st March 2010!! We are currently taking entries for the English Open, British Masters, Scottish Open, British Championship and British Open competitions. There will be a few further additions to the calendar (such as the BMGA Club Championships, individual club Opens and a couple of charity events, one for Sports Relief in March and another later in the year in Hemsby) and these will be added and communicated in future newsletters. 2010 PLAYERS FORUM Thank you to all the players who took time out from their practice schedule on Saturday at Star City to attend the 2010 Players Forum. As well as getting a first look at the 2010 Calendar the players present were also able to give us some great feedback on the pros and cons from the 2009 season and some thoughts on some of the initiatives for 2010 (such as the season only rankings – more details of this to follow in a future bulletin). BMGA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING This years AGM will take place on Saturday 27th February at the Jungle Rumble course in Bristol. All fully paid up members of the BMGA are eligible to attend and full details to follow in a separate communication. 2010 MEMBERSHIP DETAILS BMGA membership for the 2010 season will cost £20.00. However, following the success of last years ‘early bird’ initiative if you join before 1st March 2010 then the cost is only £15.00. In addition, new members will receive a free DVD on the 'Rules and Etiquette of Minigolf' on joining the BMGA. Full details and the updated membership application form can be found here.
