Keith Kellard wins Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships PDF Print E-mail

The 2009 Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships took place at the Hastings Seafront Adventure Golf Complex in Hastings, East Sussex on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October.

World Crazy Golf Champion 2009

The overall winner was Keith Kellard from Bishop’s Stortford. Second was Brighton’s Peter Emmerson, with John Mittler from Finland in third place. Kellard won with a seven round total of 247 (-5), after rounds of 34, 33, 40, 36, 36, 35 and 33 - an average of 1.96 shots per hole.

Players from all over the world were invited to compete in the Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Championships which had a prize fund of £3000. 83 competitors played six qualifying rounds (four on Saturday, two on Sunday) on the two 18-hole courses, with the top ranked 18 players making the cut to take part in the final round, played using unique Crazy Crazy Golf Rules. Keith Kellard took the World Crazy Golf Championship title, prestigious trophy and £1000 in prize money.

Other winners at the tournament were Jo Williamson, who became the Women’s World Crazy Golf Champion, with the Czech Republic’s Olivia Prokopova in second and Ruth Bullin third.

The World Crazy Golf Championships have been held every year since 2003. In the ‘Castle Golf World Crazy Golf Rankings 2003-2009’ 255 players are listed, with five-time champion Tim 'Ace Man' Davies ranked at number one, John ‘Big Top Ted’ McIver at number two and Peter Emmerson number three.
