BMGA British Club Championships, Sunday 4th October PDF Print E-mail

The British Minigolf Association Tour returns to Dorset on Sunday 4th October as Sandbanks Crazy Golf course hosts the eighth annual BMGA British Club Championships. Eight teams from five of the British Minigolf Association’s clubs will be represented in the matchplay team competition which tees off at 9am. Spectators are welcome to attend the tournament.

Each of the teams will play each other in a round robin competition over 9-holes in a matchplay format. The clubs competing are: reigning and defending BMGA British Club Champions, the Midlands Minigolf Club, Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club, the London Minigolf Club, the Kent Minigolf Club, and the Brighton & Hove Minigolf Club.

Last year the Midlands Minigolf Club’s ‘A’ team emerged victorious for an undisputed victory notching up six straight wins at the event in Stratford upon Avon. Richard Gottfried of the Midlands Minigolf Club said “The Midlands team has undergone a few changes since last year’s club championships, with some new players joining the club and some players’ greatly improving, while there have also been a few players ruled out through injury and illness. We’ve got two strong teams entered in the event with a mix of youth and experience and I am confident that we’ll retain the title in Sandbanks.”

Each of the four player teams includes players from the BMGA Tour, which organises tournaments around the country. Back in June the sister course of Sandbanks Crazy Golf in Boscombe hosted the BMGA British Doubles Tournament.

The Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club is a four-time BMGA British Club Championship winner, while the London Minigolf Club has won twice. Kent and Brighton & Hove are both aiming to become club champions for the first time.

The south west will also be home to another minigolf tournament in October, as the Pirate Adventure Golf course at the Sea Life Centre in Weymouth will be hosting the second annual Weymouth Open on Sunday 11th October.
