BMGA British Matchplay Championships, round-up PDF Print E-mail

Four first round matches in the BMGA British Matchplay Championships were played on the 25th April following the BMGA British Masters tournament at Adventure Island’s Inca and Aztec Adventure Golf Course in Southend on Sea.

In quick results:
Marc Chapman lost to Rocky Bullin 2&1
Keith Kellard lost to Terry Exall 2&1
Brad Shepherd beat Marion Homer 3&2
Phil Exall lost to Richard Gottfried 3&1

Rocky Bullin said “The atmosphere and tension of a head to head seemed to bring out the best in both of us, it was by no means an easy win. Marc fought back in the later stages with two great aces which had me worried up to the end, especially as I thought I was only one hole up so I was relieved when I was told I had won, I thought it would be a play off!”

Brad Shepherd said "I'm really happy to get through to the second round of the matchplay for the first time, after narrowly losing out last year. I've never played well in Southend until today so I feel like I've conquered my demons at long last. Bring on round two"

Richard Gottfried said “Phil was a very tough opponent and we had a close game. His two on the 9th Inca hole was excellent. Last year in this competition I was defeated in the first round here in Southend so I am extremely happy to be through to round two.”
