Top Midlands Junior Matthew Harding defeated Welsh ladies number one Cindy Kukielka 3&2 in their BMGA British Matchplay Championships first round match played at the 18-hole Miniature Golf course at St Nicholas Park, Warwick today (17th April).

Matthew Harding, who won the Junior Manchester Mini Masters title last weekend, said “I was very pleased to have won the match as Cindy was a tough opponent.”

Cindy Kukielka said “Matthew won 3&2 with an excellent performance. My highlight was winning the toss! I really enjoyed the match, though, and I wish Matthew continued success in the tournament.”

A number of other first round BMGA British Matchplay Championships are scheduled to take place at the Adventure Island course in Southend on Sea later this month following the BMGA British Masters tournament.
The match between Harding and Kukielka had been the first clash to be drawn when the matches were made at the BMGA’s HQ in Kent on 27th January 2009.
